January 31, 2017: One down, eleven to go!

I don't think in my adult life I've have ever worn lipstick 31 days in a row and I must admit it feels pretty darn good.   Making it past this first month gives me high hopes for the rest of the year because doesn't the saying go something like the hardest thing is getting started?

Today Mia has on a color I wore earlier in the month called Bellini by a line that will forever remain a mystery given the state of the label. She paired it with a lip liner called East Side Snob by Rimmel London.  I have on M.A.C's Rosy Rim liner filled in with a Clinique Lip Crayon called Honey Douce that is in desperate need of sharpening.

I am happy to have this post up before dark today and look forward to seeing what February brings.

Happy Day!

30 Days of Lipstick has Happened!!

We really started this week off on the right foot too with a nice walk and roll around the neighborhood--of course we put on our lipstick first.

I have on a color I've worn before called Havana by Paula Dorf.  It's one of my new favorites because it's a great color for me and one of the most moisturizing lipsticks I have.  I paired it with a Merle Norman lip pencil that looks like it is from the 90s.  It is a double pencil and I used the Cherry Cola side.  I don't recall ever having purchased anything from Merle Norman so this may be an inherited color and should probably be retired but the colors are good and I did sterilize it so hopefully I can get a few more smiles out of it.

Mia has on a Clinique combo of Pink Penny and Think Bronze--both great colors and very complimentary to each other not to mention they look great on her.

Special thanks to our friend Tena for coming over and helping me get Mia out of the house and for taking our daily mug shot for this online journal.  Mia's socks together with her baby afghan from Gaw Gaw make me laugh bcause I couldn't get the socks over the casts and had to improvise to keep her feet warm.  At any rate, it felt great to get outside and take advantage of the nice weather and sunshine so I hope it stays like this for a while.

I am not sure what is happening with my camera.  I know I am out of storage and keep offloading pics but think this phone may be on it's last leg.   Oh well, we will worry about that later. See you tomorrow!

Lipstick Log Day 29: Four weeks already!!

It is hard to believe this is the FOURTH Sunday of this challenge but it is true so cheers to us for sticking with it! Today I have on Kiss by Covergirl with Revlon's Natural liner and Mia has on Clinique's V.I.P. Pink.  I think each of us has worn these colors now and I must say I do like the golden glow of this on me but love the metallic pink on Mia.  Started our day with some vintage vinyl from Don Henley...one of my all time favorites indeed...

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Day 28...Makeup does make you feel great!

Well...this is much better.   Mia had to do her school stuff this morning and then I gave her the full beauty shop treatment of an old fashioned kitchen sink wash and blow dry with a side order of facial and I think she feels like a million bucks.

Today she has on Smokin Hot Pink by Wet n Wild and I have on Turn On by Urban Decay.  Wearing makeup does make a huge difference in how I feel and I am sure it does for Mia too. That being said, we both need to do this again tomorrow. Till then...Happy Saturday!

Day 27: Better Late Than Never--The Third Recap

It is the 27th Day of our lipstick challenge and thank God it is Friday!  As we sit here lounging on this lazy Friday night, Mia has on Razzleberry by Origins and I have on Honeyed Bloom by Covergirl- a very nice neutral.

Since our last recap, we have both worn English Rose.  Mia says that was her favorite color and the longest lasting and I must say it did have great staying power and went on like velvet.  My favorite color though was Ladybug and that stayed on nicely too.

As I muse over the past week and a half, I am very happy to still be putting on lipstick every day but disappointed I did not do much with my hair besides pull it back in a knot. I definitely need to work harder at that but think my nerves got the best of me so I am cutting myself some slack.    Mia and I only went to the gym two times BUT both times we did more than we had previously so that was a plus.   However, I ate ice cream while watching TV in bed two nights in a row which really made me feel like Francine from Polyester and that is not a look I aspire to own.  To make matters worse, this past Tuesday I went from eating chips and candy in the afternoon while waiting for Mia to get out of surgery to sushi, chicken strips, fries and then more fries to celebrate it being over before falling sleep at the hospital.   Even though I kept my Chocolate Bronze lipcolor in my pocket and reapplied it liberally throughout the day, it did nothing to curb my appetite for carbs.  I'm not going to fret too much because the surgery went well and we are out of there and safe and sound back at home and that is all that really matters.  We have had two days to decompress so tomorrow we get back to action. Mia starts with her homebound school teacher and I am back to work!  Happy days--and nights--are here again!

Day 26: A Cast of Characters!

Here we are near the end of the first month of 365 days of Lipstick and I know I'm behind again in my weekly review but still not going to do that today because I need to ask Mia what her favorites and longest wearings were and will get to it tomorrow.

Mia did have a visitor today though and our Third Guest Star...our dear friend Tena who stopped by for a very pleasant afternoon visit to check on the patient and bring her some good cheer.  She too indulged our silliness which made for a very colorful addition to our star studded lineup!

Mia has on English Rose by NYC, Tena has on Quinta by Bite Beauty and I have on Bella by Flirt.  I am not sure where some of these have come from but they are all fair game in this challenge.

See you tomorrow!

Day 25: Back home!

It is Day 25 of 365 Days of Lipstick and I am happy to say we are back home and celebrating being out of the hospital from a hopefully successful and FINAL orthopedic surgery.

First things first: I am having a much needed Double Pineapple--Bacardi Pineapple Fusion Rum with a splash of Dole Pineapple Juice--and Mia is having our house favorite: 7-Up on the rocks

Getting down to business, Mia has on a M.A.C Selena color called Dreaming of You and I have on another Clinique freebie called Chianti.  Both colors look similar but are still different...just like my favorite Funnybone glasses holding our icy rewards after a rough couple days.  Cheers!

Day 24: Mia's big day!

It is Day 24 of 365 Days of Lipstick and Mia is back in the picture. She had to skip the lipstick challenge this morning because today is a big day: she is having surgery today so only clean faces allowed. She just went in about ten minutes ago and although she is an old pro at this routine, she was very nervous today. We counted them this morning and this is her 11th procedure in the 16 years she has been alive. Needless to say, she has been through a lot and the fact that she still smiles everyday says a lot about the spirit that lives inside her. She remains my driving force and I love her with all my heart.

I have on Clinique's Chocolate Bronze.  Mia did come home yesterday with lipstick on and said she has been wearing it every day too. We will be adding her photos and colors later.
