Happy Saturday All!
Mia went for a change of pace today and grabbed glosses for us to wear instead of lipsticks. She has on Hot Pink from Sephora and she let me wear her M.A.C Selena favorite Bidi Bidi Bom Bom. It is a great color but I think she really likes wearing it for the name and I know I do because it makes me feel like marching in a band! It needed a little extra so I paired it with M.A.C's Rosy Rim liner and this adds a nice touch.
We had a great day at home in the kitchen again making our second batch of Zeppole. This time we used a different recipe for comparison purposes since we had never made it before the other night and we have declared this one the winner of the two. I don't think I can look at any more of them for a while though but do believe we have the frying time down after many taste tests. The big crash happened when I slipped into a powdered sugar coma during my tea break. Thank you, Detective Sonny Carisi for introducing us to these dietary destructors...I hope I live through another batch!
Speaking of winners, we do have a couple more declarations to make. For our sixth review, Mia is naming her favorite color of this past time period the Tangerine Lady Katie lip crayon and the longest wearing was the one she wore yesterday, Dreaming of You. I can attest to this because she was eating an apple and her lipstick looked the same after each bite as it did when the apple was whole. No lipstick on the apple AT ALL!!
My favorite for the time period was Ladybug both for color and longest wearing.
As far as everything else that goes along with this challenge, we have been in a transition period as Mia went back to school and our routine changed but it is going smoothly. Honestly, I have not touched my hair aside from brushing it and putting it up everyday and Mia's was the same. It takes us so much time to just do the basics without access to a full bath so there is not time for heated devices in the school morning chaos. This is no excuse though so my goal this week is to improve on this by setting up a a style station. It can be done...no room for negative...only solutions!!
Aside from our Italian donut binges, we have been eating healthy and walking and rolling a couple times a week in the hood. Plus we've been going to our fitness class with the very generous help of classmates and their mom who pick us up in their minivan since I can't get Mia and her chair in Agnes, my lonely little buggy. Mia has also been going to therapy and since there are wheelchairs already there, the staff helps Mia in and out and that is above and beyond customer service!! For these two ongoing kind gestures we are both grateful. On top of these outside activities, we've been doing our own routine of exercises together at home. We usually put on an album and listen to it in it's entirety while working out which reminds me of my own teen years with my sister Wendy because that is the kind of thing we used to do together, sometimes even while listening to Ruth doing The Seventh Day on KSHE 95. Love those memories and I hope Mia will look back on these someday and love 'em too.
Overall, this challenge is a good thing for both of us. It all comes down to confidence building and it is working because I am watching my daughter get stronger in more ways than one and this is what really makes me happier than anything.
Gotta go but will see you tomorrow!
